Does anybody want to buy an Intuos 4 small from me for $200 with free shipping? It's the tablet I use; I bought it 1.5 years ago (last year january) I took good care of it, and I draw with a sheet of clear plastic on top of it so there's no pen scratch marks on the pad. I am considering getting a Cintiq and since this tablet is so new (it is still the current latest model) and my ancient graphire 2 still works, I'm thinking of selling it back out if I do decide to get a Cintiq.

This is not a great price, especially for something that's actually used rather than the brand-new-collecting-dust-in-the-corner-for-3-years that you can find on ebay, and there's a fair chance that I will end up not doing the upgrade as well. but if anyone is interested, please send me a note ^^ It's a take it or leave it price so I probably won't be answering you if you try to logically deduct my price away. I'll even sign it on the back or something if that makes any difference at all.

[CONVENTIONS]

Usually when people make these lists they're HUGE, I feel a little inadequate LOL... But I'll be at the following grand total of TWO conventions this summer.

Otakon, Baltimore (in artist alley)
FanEXPO, Toronto (applying)
(going to anime north just to roam because I don't have a table)

Since I'm based in Toronto, I've considered going to some conventions that are close to here or at least, in Canada. My parents have relatives/coworkers in Montreal so I was considering going to Otakuthon (I am assuming artist alley tables are still not out yet...?) but I'm scared that people will run up to me and spew french at me HAHAH. I also have such... relatives/coworkers... in either Edmonton or Calgary I forgot which so I'm considering cons there as well (my research says animethon and ai-kon). Does anybody have any negative experiences with the conventions in above locations? especially as a selling artist. I find it really weird that Canadian conventions have such late artist alley application dates, because flight becomes a lot less affordable close to the actual date. I ALSO FIND IT WEIRD THAT NONE OF THESE CONVENTIONS USES RSS FEEDS. we're in 2011 do they really expect people to remember to check back regularly for updates ]:

ANYWAY I wanted to go to more cons in the US this year but by the time I thought about that, it was already too late to apply to most of the artist alleys, and I've gotten too used to excluding school years out of my options that I didn't bother looking these up for the past 2 years. If there is a decent sized convention that you know of that I could attend, please help me by listing them so I can look them up and be prepared for next year. Thank you ^^

If you're an artist from canada who have driven down to the states to sell prints at a convention, did you ever get in trouble/get searched when crossing?

I'm going to Otakon and I really need to know this to make my flight decision. My friend has told me horror stories but  I didn't have any trouble in the past two times that I had driven down. My dad thinks I'm retarded for even thinking that crossing by car is different from crossing by flight, but yeah I'm worried about whether the $500 I save by driving to buffalo to fly is worth the risk of getting pulled over at the borders, which I was told is a lot worse than getting detained at the airport. Your input is greatly appreciated ):

I swear this is the last time I'm going to otakon, it's so damn expensive and getting to be a bigger pain in the rear by the year LOL

PREMISE: My story is titled Blackbird, the current published manga is called Black Bird; I released my story online before sakurakoji, but obviously the name belongs to VIZ now! It's a common word and many variations of it are used for countless famous works, but as we all know this kind of common sense is useless if I ever get in trouble. I would change the name but I like this name; it relates to the story and at the same time not some random made up word that people won't remember. I don't want to add any "the"s or "chronicles" or "tales" type words to it because they sound incredibly stupid, and all alternatives I've come up with so far doesn't have the same effect as Blackbird. (maybe because I've had the name for what 7 years HAHA)

QUESTION: WILL I GET INTO LEGAL TROUBLE IF I PRINT/SELL MY BOOK WITHOUT CHANGING THE TITLE. While I don't mean to discredit opinions, what I need the most right now is facts from laws and regulations and I am really hoping to hear any advice from those of you who have such background

Yesterday someone spammed my blog comments under my name, leaving rude replies to everyone. He was able to do it because I didn't protect my name there. I've since then made a modification that no one else can use "shilin" (or any vatiations with capitals) as the comment author name. any other variation of the name is not me.

This measure is only possible because the blog is mine, so if he gets bored and decides to leave rude messages on any of the art blogs I follow with my identity, I can't stop him. So I apologize to everyone in advance if it happens and if the fake me offend anyone! If in doubt, e-mail me and ask me what's up.

Unfortunately I can't protect the identities of the people who frequently comment on my blog. Be assured I should be able to find out who is who.

I need help again ):

One of my aunts is going to immigrate to Canada pretty soon with her children. One of her kids is already in university in China right now, and I'd like to know if it's possible for the credits she's already earned there to be transferred/recognized here. If yes, is there anything important that she needs to do right now? (aside from getting detailed transcripts in english, course/university information etc) I haven't been able to find any set procedures or a list of what's accepted and what's not.

If any of you have friends or family that have done this before, any experience you may share is appreciated! While she is fine with having to start over once she gets here, it would be nice if the 2 years of work she has already put in would not go to waste, so we want to make sure we find out as much as possible about this.

I normally just post a journal when I start but here's a 2 hour heads-up this time for the benefit of some! I will update this journal again when I do start, with a link to the channel.

I haven't streamed for a while so I decided to do that tonight. I will be working on this: [link] the winner of the last poll! (well ok 1 of the two winners, but I really am not in the mood to spend 50 hours trying to draw rain lmfao) I have some free time this week so I started on it. I'll most likely be just playing with the rough colours during the stream. Recently when I CG I just do whatever I feel like so it may or may not be a very productive session LOL. I've already altered it a little today before I thought about streaming so it may look different from the link above.

What would it be?

If I had won the lottery, I know I would give most of the money away to my friends and family, and I know I would spend most of it in places that are practical and invest/save the rest. I would want to use the rest of the money to their fullest potential, I would want it to relief the work that bounds everyone around me right now and I would want to make it last for as long as it can. There would be a lot of stuff that I would want to use this money to buy, but I won't because I'd see it as a "waste of money". Why do that when I can simply use that money to grow more if I am careful about spending?

I am sure a lot of you think this way too. But putting all that aside, putting everyone else aside, the rest of your life aside, the benefit of the majority aside... if there is one thing you can buy for yourself, what would it be?

I would want a steinway concert grand, given I have somewhere to put it of course. My university studies spoiled me with pianos and now I really miss them ): I would like to think it's a prejudice with the brand names that made me like them, but I don't think I've played a piano that I liked more than a steinway.

[edit] I forgot what I wanted even more is to play with an orchestra ): but that's a bit complicated

What would you want to get for yourself?

I saw this hilarious scene between a man and a woman in an interview in ENGLISH... but the video is gone now, and I'm left without names of actors or drama titles

So the dialogue went somewhat like this (in VERY broken English):

Man: You look....NURRBUSS (nervous).

Woman: Yessu...because, you are bery (very) HANDsome.

Man: REALLY? Thank you
*The last part went sorta like "When my homeroom teacher was pregnant, our class went to the hospital and sang a sorng (song) LOL, until the baby came out....within two hours"
